How authoritative this statement is! God has said it, and it will be so.
I might have read this verse a thousand times, but still, I cannot help wondering at the depth of meaning in it. How great is our God! Each of God's promises I recall and combined with this verse, I get a powerful statement of God's omnipotence.
The context of Isaiah 46 is one of God's reassurance to the people of Israel in the face of idolatry and exile. God contrasts His omnipotence with the impotence of idols, reinforcing that He alone controls the destiny of nations. In this verse, the reference to God's spoken word reflects the divine logos, the Word of God, through which He creates, commands, and redeems. This is a reflection of the fulfillment of God’s ultimate plan through Jesus Christ, who is the Word made flesh (John 1:14).
God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. His timing is never wrong. What He spoke a thousand years ago still stands true today. If we are faithful to Him and follow His command, He will fulfill all His promises to us. And, it will never be a minute too late.
